Staff roles: Residential Care Unit

 

Care Manager

This position provides for and maintains a high standard of both management and nursing care that is conducive to the wellbeing of the residents of the Aparangi Village Residential Care Unit, and where appropriate the wider population of Aparangi Village, This role is responsible for ensuring the objectives and philosophy of the Trust Board is met.

Through the provision of direct and indirect care and service this role assists our residents to meet their emotional, social and spiritual needs, to have their rights to be individuals heard and retaining their independence as far as possible. The Care Manager leads the various teams that make up the staffing needs of the unit ensuring that the residents of the Residential Care Unit are provided the highest level of care and reflect on their decision to make the Village their home

 

Admission and Education Coordinator

This position is responsible for ensuring that we deliver caring and professional standards of service in the care unit from the initial stages of referral through to the provision of person centred care. This role works with the resident/family/whanau and relevant health professionals to ensure the staff at the care unit are aware of and understand the specific needs of the resident living in the unit whilst supporting all staff educational and up skilling needs

 

RN descriptor

This position has been established to provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care that is conducive to the wellbeing of the residents of the Residential Care Unit, and where appropriate the wider population of Aparangi Village. This is in partnership with primary and medical support and complies with the objectives and philosophy of the Trust Board are met.

The RN role is to provide the highest possible degree of direct care and service by assisting our residents to meet their emotional, social and spiritual needs and to always remember their rights to be individuals and to retain their independence as far as possible.

This role will assist the Care Manager through leading the Care giving teams and in ensuring the residents of the Residential Care Unit are provided the highest level of care and reflects their decision to make the Village their home

 

Caregiver descriptor

This position provides quality loving care to our residents and to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the whole person. The caregiver works to ensure that the rights and wishes of our residents, their families and their friends are respected whilst ensuring their privacy and independency is maintained. The caregiver must follow the nursing care plan which has been prepared by registered staff and is responsible to, and accountable to, the Manager Residential Care Unit

Diversional Therapist/Assistant role is to provide quality loving care to our residents that respects the social, physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the whole person. This role will do this by optimising the social, physical and psychological care for our residents through the provision of daily interest activities that brings quality and purpose into our residents’ lives

 

Cook descriptor

This role provides quality nutritional care to our residents by providing for them a good balance diet that is attractively and well presented ensuring particular attention is made to the hygienic preparation of all meals. In  partnership with the RNs/Caregivers to ensure the kitchen is responsive to the rights and wishes of our residents, their families and their friends are respected, catering for the individual dietary needs as outlined in the nutritional profile whilst maintaining all stocks/supplies and infection control regulations related to the kitchen

Kitchen assistant provides support to the cook under their supervision to provide for the nutritional care of the residents whilst maintaining the need to ensure meals are delivered in a timely and well organised manner. This role is required to know and follow the individual needs of the residents ensuring all dietary requirements are followed.

 

Domestic Descriptor

This role is required to provide quality loving care to our residents by providing for them a clean, comfortable, personalised and safe environment. The provision of a clean home environment that meets all Health and safety/Infection control requirements is essential with all aspects of a safe working practice adhered to ensure we meet the needs of all residents within the unity

 

Laundry

To provide quality loving care to our residents in practical fashion by ensuring that their personal clothing is nicely laundered and kept in good repair.

 

Reception and administrative role

This is the first person the resident and family/whanau meet on admission to the unit and therefore has a responsibility to ensure a warm, welcoming introduction to the care unit.It also provides direct support to the Manager Residential Care Unit in the provision of secretarial duties, developing excellent relationships with her residents and their family/whanau ensuring all needs are understood and met. To support all functional tasks of the unit to ensure the smooth day to day running of the unit that is responsive to the needs of residents and family/whanau. To ensure all administration is completed for the smooth running of the service

 

 Maintenance role-supports both Care Unit and the Aparangi Village

To ensure the successful and cost effective maintenance of the Trust Boards buildings, gardens and grounds. To maintain all buildings, gardens and grounds at a high standard of presentation and safety and in a timely manner .To ensure all audit checks are completed ensuring the Trust works within the required legislative guidelines and the village is maintained at the highest standard. In partnership with the Boiler man maintain an efficient boiler service to ensure delivery of heating and hot water requirements to the Residential Care Unit, Semi Independent Flats and Simmons Hall.
